Sweaty casual chic/what to wear when its hot

When it is hot and sweaty how do you maintain your 'chic'. The tendency is to wear as little as possible, but by doing this you automatically go way too casual so how to meet somewhere in the middle. 'You look Fab' has suggested to wear long below the knee shorts with loose tunic tops, add accessories and voila it is hot weather chic. For me this is still too much clothing for 90 degree heat with 90% humidity.

Another version is to go sleeveless but add a light weight scarf. The Cabi Canary clothing company added a look on last years blog that seems more heat friendly. The accessories are what keep it from being too casual. Although I wouldn't be able to wear heels like that  I would find some a little less severe.  What will you be wearing?? Ill be adding some shots of hot day outfits in the next post.

Got me a new PHotographer

When I am posing for the camera I rarely know what to do with myself. So my new photographer gave me hints on what to do with my arms face and general posture. I  ended up laughing a lot and relaxed. We had fun! The outfit is based upon the Creme/red/black color combinations which I think are sophisticated. The hat is one I am selling. It is black panama straw with a simple rawhide trim. I'M Going GREEN: Green Jacket

This is my favorite new spring jacket. I love the green color. I am going to get a lot of wear out of it. Although it has shoulder emphasis, I thought the shoulders aren't too overwhelming. My sweater and light yellow jeans were bought at Costco. I think this is sassy casual because of the bright colors.

skirt project worn 2 ways

I made this skirt from a Vogue Pattern:1292.
I made it over the course of a few days because just as I was starting my jacket project my iron broke. Well you can't steam interfacing without an iron. So I pulled out this fabric and made this skirt. I had to  shorten length of the skirt before I added  the band of the origami pleats, I lined it with slip like knit material to give it enough body. What was most frustrating was that none of the fabric stores in my area had ANY striped knit fabric. This is how it is featured on the pattern cover...

Anyways look one on the left turned out to be too light weight for the sudden cold front we had today in the 50's. So I went inside and added the sweater and jeans jacket. I refuse to put winter shoes back on so the sandals stayed.  This style skirt is way outside of my usual comfort zone. Do you like it??

Passion for Aqua with or without the hat

I happen to love the color aqua. This blouse has a ocean/animal print in aqua. I bought the sweater just so I could wear this sleeveless blouse in the cooler months. I threw the hat on because it is just a throw together hat I made out of remnants from another hat. I was trying to get a close up of the hat but my camera took them blurry. (Notice that it is my camera that is the bad photographer:)

Pedicure magic

I love getting a pedicure. Do you? Believe it or not the first one I had was in New York City July of 2006. Before that I never thought about someone else handling my feet. Am I glad I changed my mind about the process. I think my feet look okay some people stress about their feet. Me I am at peace with mine. I love to wear turquoise so why not my toes too. Here is the rest of my outfit.

DO YOU DRESS UP FOR CHURCH?

If you attend a place of worship in my case church do you dress up?
I like to dress up for church. Although it is not required I feel better if I do. This is a typical outfit I might wear to church. If I didn't sing in the choir I would probably wear a hat too. This is my Coldwater Creek jacket, Anne Klein blouse, Dress Barn skirt. It is a very neutral outfit and in a pinch it will do. Do you still dress up for your place of worship?

I have small eyes!!!

We have been having beautiful weather and I thought a picture of my neighbors flowering tree in the background would be pretty. Ever realize something about your self just by looking at photographs? I know it is silly but I just realized that my eyes are small and don't show up in pictures. To make matters worse I can hardly keep from squinting while outdoors. Does it really matter probably not at all. Its just the aging process and probably my ancestors still survived despite having small eyes too.

Cranberry love the color, do you?

I love the color cranberry. It is not really one of my colors but I just love it so much I still have to wear it. I like to mix it with khaki green cargoes. My jacket looks purple gray in this picture for some reason it is really a gray green. It 's not a good hair day but ladies we all have those right???

Costco and unexpected wardrobe find

I found this sweater this week at Costco. I thought it just might add the right touch to this green dress. I like the abstract art on the sweater and the colors scream 'spring'. Sometimes I buy a piece and then can't figure out what to wear with it. I was just wearing black as an accent with this green dress. I like this option so much better. Don 't you just love my aloof pose on the right? I'm adding to my posing repertoire.

TOO TIGHT or just fitted

I started out this post to show an example of how red can be an accent with creme colored top and putty colored pant. The putty color is just a grey added to creme. Anyways since you notice things in photographs that you would not otherwise notice I am wondering if the fit on this top is too tight or is it just fitted. I hooked the hooks over the bust area to define my waist but is it too tight because there is gaping? Am I just being too critical? I do like the color combinations though.

BUSYPRINT=Camoflague

Sometimes you find a print that has 'your colors' in it. Imogene Lamport
(http://www.insideoutstyleblog.com/2012/03/how-to-understand-the-elements-of-prints.html) analyzed prints in a post and this is a modern floral. I think it works like camouflage on my body. Your eye is so busy going all over the place looking at this print that it misses the figure flaws. So I deem this dress a keeper. The knit is so soft it is easy to wear. Do you have any dresses that hide what you want them to?
