Sweaty casual chic/what to wear when its hot

When it is hot and sweaty how do you maintain your 'chic'. The tendency is to wear as little as possible, but by doing this you automatically go way too casual so how to meet somewhere in the middle. 'You look Fab' has suggested to wear long below the knee shorts with loose tunic tops, add accessories and voila it is hot weather chic. For me this is still too much clothing for 90 degree heat with 90% humidity.

Another version is to go sleeveless but add a light weight scarf. The Cabi Canary clothing company added a look on last years blog that seems more heat friendly. The accessories are what keep it from being too casual. Although I wouldn't be able to wear heels like that  I would find some a little less severe.  What will you be wearing?? Ill be adding some shots of hot day outfits in the next post.

Got me a new PHotographer

When I am posing for the camera I rarely know what to do with myself. So my new photographer gave me hints on what to do with my arms face and general posture. I  ended up laughing a lot and relaxed. We had fun! The outfit is based upon the Creme/red/black color combinations which I think are sophisticated. The hat is one I am selling. It is black panama straw with a simple rawhide trim. I'M Going GREEN: Green Jacket

This is my favorite new spring jacket. I love the green color. I am going to get a lot of wear out of it. Although it has shoulder emphasis, I thought the shoulders aren't too overwhelming. My sweater and light yellow jeans were bought at Costco. I think this is sassy casual because of the bright colors.

skirt project worn 2 ways

I made this skirt from a Vogue Pattern:1292.
I made it over the course of a few days because just as I was starting my jacket project my iron broke. Well you can't steam interfacing without an iron. So I pulled out this fabric and made this skirt. I had to  shorten length of the skirt before I added  the band of the origami pleats, I lined it with slip like knit material to give it enough body. What was most frustrating was that none of the fabric stores in my area had ANY striped knit fabric. This is how it is featured on the pattern cover...

Anyways look one on the left turned out to be too light weight for the sudden cold front we had today in the 50's. So I went inside and added the sweater and jeans jacket. I refuse to put winter shoes back on so the sandals stayed.  This style skirt is way outside of my usual comfort zone. Do you like it??

Passion for Aqua with or without the hat

I happen to love the color aqua. This blouse has a ocean/animal print in aqua. I bought the sweater just so I could wear this sleeveless blouse in the cooler months. I threw the hat on because it is just a throw together hat I made out of remnants from another hat. I was trying to get a close up of the hat but my camera took them blurry. (Notice that it is my camera that is the bad photographer:)

Pedicure magic

I love getting a pedicure. Do you? Believe it or not the first one I had was in New York City July of 2006. Before that I never thought about someone else handling my feet. Am I glad I changed my mind about the process. I think my feet look okay some people stress about their feet. Me I am at peace with mine. I love to wear turquoise so why not my toes too. Here is the rest of my outfit.

DO YOU DRESS UP FOR CHURCH?

If you attend a place of worship in my case church do you dress up?
I like to dress up for church. Although it is not required I feel better if I do. This is a typical outfit I might wear to church. If I didn't sing in the choir I would probably wear a hat too. This is my Coldwater Creek jacket, Anne Klein blouse, Dress Barn skirt. It is a very neutral outfit and in a pinch it will do. Do you still dress up for your place of worship?
